This is a follow up class from our Intro to Dressmaking class and you will be making the top from the Carolyn Pyjama pattern.

What will you learn?

In the first session, we will work on the collar and pocket with piping. Followed by the second sessions, we will sew the label facings, sleeve/side seams as well finish the shirt hem and sew buttonholes.

What is included in the course? And what do I have to bring?

Please bring your fabric (1.8 - 2.7m) depending on your size. Please check the fabric requirements in the booklet. Your pattern and fabric should be ready cut before the class (this is your pre-class homework). If you won't do this, you will not have enough time to sew the shirt. We recommend sewing with Cotton Lawn that has a clear right (pretty) side to make the construction easier. As you know, sewing with plain fabrics can be more difficult.

You will also need interfacing for the lapel and collar, 5 shirt buttons and piping (about 3.2m). We recommend making your own piping that has a seam allowance of 5/8". Store-bought piping only has 3/8" seam allowance making it harder to pin to the edge of the fabric. But of course, it will still work.

• If you have completed the Beginner Course and Intro to Dressmaking
• PS: if your last Intro to Dressmaking workshop has been a while, we recommend practicing and making the PJ bottoms once more.
