If you already know your way around Jersey fabric with your sewing machine, come a learn to sew this hoodie on the overlocker (serger).
We will be using the Lynn Hoodie pattern by Pattydoo. Please send us your measurements so we can cut your size prior to the workshop.
The Hoodie has a relaxed fit with a snuggly hood, inseam pockets and thumb-hole cuffs to keep your wrists nice and warm. If you feel up for the challenge, you try and colour-block your hoodie. Mix & match plain and print fabrics.
What will you learn?
In the first session we will cut your fabric and complete the pockets, shoulder and side seams, for both front & back as well as sleeves.
In the second session, we will continue with the assembly of the hood and attach it to the main body.
All is sewn on the overlocker and sewing machine.
What is included in the course? And what do I have to bring?
We will be using the Lynn Hoodie pattern from Pattydoo. You'll get to take the pattern home to replicate the hoodie as many times as you like.
Please bring fabric. medium-weight stretch knit fabrics, such as brushed back sweatshirt, sweatshirt, french terry or fleeced back jersey. Check that the fabric can be stretched crosswise at least 25% wider than its original width. You will need at least 2.5m if the fabric is 150cm wide - I squeezed the hoodie out of 2m but it was tight. Especially with the colour-blocking. If your fabric has a directional print, you will need more fabric.
You will also need more fabric to make the cuffs for the sleeves & hem, or bring ribbon fabric. Please also bring 8-10mm cord or string for the hood, we will provide the two required eyelets.

- have completed two of the Dressmaking 1-3 and Intro to Jersey or similar
- can insert a regular zip and attach a waistband
- understands notches and grainlines
- Very Confident in sewing cotton fabrics
- can carry out all skills mentioned in previous course levels
