In this intermediate workshop for kids, they choose between the dressmaking or craft sewing projects. Please let us know at time of booking so we can prepare the materials accordingly:
Craft Sewing projects: depending on their skill level, we will sew soft toys from easy owls to challenging monsters and even octopuses - we've got it all.
Dressmaking projects: for confident beginners (straight from our beginner workshop) they'll make an apron to strengthen what they learnt in the previous workshop and also sew a pair of PJ bottoms. The intermediate level can choose to make our ever-popular denim pinafore dress, a shirred summer dress, shorts and top, culottes and t-shirt. For advanced kids, they can sew a lovely semi-fitted dress.
What will you learn?
Depending on their skill level and project they choose, they will learn how to cut the pattern to your size, cut your fabric correctly and understand pattern instructions. You will also learn how to top-stitch your denim dress and strengthen your skills around sewing straight lines, pressing and hemming.
What is included in the course? And what do I have to bring?
All materials are included and you just have to bring yourself. You are welcome to bring your own machine too but we have machines for everyone to use.
Level: Confident Beginner (kids aged 9 years and above)
- have used a sewing machine before
- can pin fabric - can thread a sewing machine
- can sew straight lines and follow a seam allowance
- made projects such as tote bags, pouches and scrunchies
Course Length: 4 sessions of 2 hours
