Ola! Hallo! Hi there!

I’m Maria, and I started sewing in the fall of 2015 while living on a small island in Malaysia called Labuan. It only took 20 minutes to drive around the island, so there wasn't much to do. I bought a sewing machine to take up a new hobby. Though there were a few hiccups at the start, I’ve enjoyed every project and haven’t looked back.

I haven't shopped at a ready-to-wear store in over four years! Even for my previous corporate job, I incorporated handmade workwear. 

This site was once my blog where I shared handmade garments, pattern reviews, fabric hauls, and inspiration. Now, it’s become my space to teach others how to sew.

When I was still in my corporate job, sewing was my happy place. Having worked in a toxic environment, the time spent sewing has helped me through this difficult time. 

Even now, today, when your body is changing through whatever reason, I am glad I can sew all my own clothes to make me feel comfortable with greatly fitting garments in the colours, prints and fibres that I love!

I have always loved creating things! From a young age, I’ve had creative people around me, and I learnt hand stitching, embroidery, knitting and sewing at school.

When my three daughters were young, I bought my first sewing machine and loved making items for them and myself. I got a thrill from seeing them parade around in the prom dresses that I had made.

When I moved to Dubai nine years ago, I discovered the craft community and began teaching various crafts.

Being creative is a wonderful outlet, there is great fulfilment in having made something yourself and I love sharing that with others.

I’m a dedicated nurse with a creative heart, blending 15 years of healthcare experience with a deep passion for all things crochet. After living and working in France, England, Hong Kong, and now sunny Dubai, I’ve stitched together a new chapter in life—one loop at a time!

My crochet journey began in Hong Kong, where I taught myself by following YouTubers and quickly fell in love with the calm and joy that came from creating with yarn. What started as a soothing hobby turned into a beautiful way to make heartfelt, handmade gifts for the people I love.

Now, I’ve taken the leap into crochet full time! I absolutely love teaching others how to create their own projects and find the same peace and happiness in this craft. Whether you’re a total beginner or a fellow yarn lover, I’m here to help you stitch with confidence, creativity, and joy!

Hi! I’m Aswati. Creativity has always been a quiet thread running through my life, even while following a more traditional path. During a period of transition, I felt drawn back toward something more hands-on and expressive, and that’s when I decided to reconnect with my creative side.

My crochet journey began unexpectedly with a simple video of a crocheted bee. Curious to try it myself, I picked up a hook and started learning through online tutorials, gradually moving from small beginner projects into the world of amigurumi and eventually designing my own patterns. I quickly discovered how rewarding it felt to bring ideas to life one stitch at a time.

What started as a hobby soon became an important and grounding part of my everyday life. Crochet brought me calm, creativity, and a sense of accomplishment, while reminding me that making things by hand is not just a craft, but also a way to slow down, express yourself, and connect with others.

There’s something magical about watching a piece of fabric come to life. My love for sewing began as a child, sitting beside my mother and watching her transform fabric and thread into something beautiful and meaningful. That early fascination stayed with me and became a lifelong source of creativity and joy.

After moving to Abu Dhabi, I bought a Pfaff sewing machine that is still with me more than 30 years later. Through sewing, I created clothes for myself, handmade pieces for my home, and found moments of calm and creativity throughout the different stages of life. Although family, work, and responsibilities sometimes pushed sewing into the background, my passion for handmade crafts never truly disappeared.

Over the years, volunteering within sewing, crochet, and knitting communities helped reconnect me with that creativity once again. Today, through ThreadWerk, I love teaching both children and adults, helping them slow down, create with confidence, and experience the joy of making something with their own hands.

Hello/ Privet everyone! My name is Polina.

My sewing journey began just before Covid, after leaving the legal profession to focus more on my family and myself. Looking for a creative outlet, I bought a second-hand Singer sewing machine and quickly fell in love with sewing. During Covid, I developed my skills further and even started a small business making silk, linen, and cotton face masks, especially for children who loved choosing fun fabrics that reflected their personalities.

I’ve always appreciated beautifully made, high-quality clothing, and I love the process of turning beautiful fabric into garments that fit perfectly and feel truly unique. For me, sewing is both creative and deeply rewarding, especially when making pieces that can be enjoyed for years to come.

Today, I’m the proud owner of two sewing machines, an overlocker, and far too much fabric! My sewing journey is still evolving, and I enjoy learning new techniques, improving my skills, and sharing my passion for sewing with others.

Hi! I’m Riva, and I love hand embroidery, crochet, and sewing my own clothes. My fibre arts journey began in 2021 during my first year of university, when I was looking for a creative escape from pandemic life. My very first project was an ambitious A3 embroidered portrait as a gift for a friend, and since then I’ve continued developing my skills through projects on tapestries, clothing, tote bags, and more.

I discovered crochet in the summer of 2022 while making a small purse for my mum’s birthday. Learning to handle a hook and yarn felt very different from embroidery at first, but with patience, practice, and plenty of YouTube tutorials, I quickly fell in love with the craft. Before long, I was creating clothes and accessories that matched my own style, often without using patterns at all.

Creating things with my own hands has done wonders for my confidence and creativity. It has inspired me to continue learning new skills, including machine sewing, and I love encouraging others to discover the same joy, confidence, and sense of accomplishment through making.

Hello, my name is Talia. My crochet journey began during my first year at university while studying psychology, although my appreciation for the craft started much earlier, growing up surrounded by my great grandmother’s beautiful handmade crochet pieces. What began as a pastime hobby quickly turned into a passion for creating and experimenting with yarn. After a crochet session with a friend that resulted in hundreds of wonderfully misshapen granny squares, I was completely “hooked.”

After graduating and moving back to Dubai, I continued exploring my love for crochet by creating projects such as doilies, stuffed animals, and other handmade pieces. Over time, I found myself drawn not only to the creative process, but also to the sense of calm and mindfulness that crochet brought into my life.

As my confidence grew, I began teaching my sisters and close friends, discovering that sharing my passion was just as rewarding as crocheting itself. I love helping others learn new skills, build confidence, and experience the joy and creativity that handmade crafts can bring.
